The Masseria San Domenico lies about five hundred meters from the sea on the coast between Bari and Brindisi. It is one of the oldest watch towers built in the XV century. This fortified building was used to warn against attacks by the Turks.

After a careful restoration, completed respecting the old shapes and the original building materials, the tower was converted into a deluxe resort whose charm recalls the history of the region, a land where the Eastern and the Mediterranean cultures have mixed well together.

The "San Domenico Golf" course lies near the small fisherman village of Savelletri, with its southern boundary as close to the sea as the road and rocky coastline will allow. To the north are the olive groves and agricultural fields the site was once part of. The formerly flat and featureless land is now a challenging 18 hole golf course which offers an unforgettable experience for visitors and superb view of the Adriatic Sea from every tee, green and fairway.

Designed by "European Golf Design", the course measures over 6300 meters, has a par of 72 and has been constructed to the highest standards, with greens conforming to USGA Specifications. As it is to be expected from a golf course so close to the sea, wind can play a significant role in the challenge of the course. Together with strategic bunkering, definitive fairway shaping and clever green design, a thought provoking test of golf has been set.

This is complemented by incorporating local plants into the design of the course, which can be seen occupying great waste areas weaving their way in and around the golf holes. These are areas where local rock, has been left in place, having first been crushed to a granular material and re-contoured to become part of the species common to this region, thereby ensuring that the golf course retains a local identity.

Superior Room
Elegantly furnished, our Superior Rooms (25sqm) are bright and spacious. They are located on the first floor and offer a delightful garden or courtyard view.

Deluxe Room
Charming and tastefully furnished, the Deluxe rooms (30sqm) are on the ground floor and strategically close to our Spa and Talassotherapy centre. These rooms overlook our olive groves and have a small private patio (5sqm) equipped with table and chairs: the perfect place to relax or have breakfast.

Junior Suite
Spacious and beautifully appointed, all of the Junior Suites (40sqm) are located on the ground floor and offer a charming garden view. The Junior Suite have 1 bedroom with a comfortable open plan living room and 1 spacious bathroom with separate shower cubicle. Although there is no balcony, there are two windows overlooking the sunny courtyards.

Junior Suite Classic
Perfect for families, the Junior Suites Classic (40mtq) have 1 double bedroom connecting with a second single bedroom, 2 bathrooms of which one with Jacuzzi shower and a large balcony (15sqm) with private patio enjoying a view over our olive groves.

Masseria Suite
The Masseria Suite (45sqm) are among the most beautiful rooms in the hotel. Furnished to the highest standard, they are located on the first floor, with bedroom, separate living area, 2 bathrooms with tub and a spacious terrace equipped with sun loungers, table and chairs. They enjoy a magnificent garden or sea view.

Talasso Suite
The Talasso Suites are the largest suites in the hotel (52sqm), with separate living room and a charming little balcony overlooking our garden or offering a magnificent sea view. They are located on the first floor and give the advantage of being very close to the Spa and Talassotherapy centre. They are elegantly appointed and offer all comforts. Bathroom is very large and features a separate shower cubicle. A second courtesy toilet is also available.

San Domenico Suite
The San Domenico Suite is our most exclusive suite (130mtq), in a prime location and with a huge terrace (70sqm) offering a breathtaking sea view. With 2 double bedrooms and a separate living room featuring a beautiful fireplace and kitchenette area, this suite is ideal for families or for friends but also for romantic getaways. It is elegantly furnished and equipped with all modern comforts like fax machine, DVD player and satellite TV. The 2 bathrooms feature Jacuzzi bathtub or Jacuzzi shower".

The essential element of thalassotherapy is sea water. Its salinity is very rich in minerals and the abundance of trace elements also makes it a primary source of purification for the human organism.

In order to obtain the maximum of these benefits, international thalassotherapeutic experts-particularly in Thalgo-have performed research to extract the greatest benefits from sea water, while keeping in mind its nature and potentiality. The water used in our center is drawn from a deep underground stratum, which sits at about 400 meters below the sea level.

This water is also completely purified by means of filters and afterwards heated in our center's circuit by means of the most up-to-date equipment. Another extremely beneficial sea material is seaweed. This seaweed has vast concentrations of minerals and vitamins, indispensable for the improvement of our biological functions. This seaweed is crushed and micropolverized and then added to sea water in hydromassage and compresses. Sea water and seaweed are an exceptional cocktail producing a equilibrating, tonic invigorating and detoxifying effect.

"San Domenico" Restaurant :
This suggestive dining room with arched volts dates back to the 1700's. Keeping with its original purpose of oil press, the Masseria San Domenico's restaurant offers specialties from the typical cuisine of Puglia, followed by a rich selection of the best wines from this region. Vegetables and home grown products, olive oil and a great part of the fruit are grown or produced in San Domenico's own land. Fresh, fish and shellfish come from our Adriatic Coast.
